Shibetsu Salmon Museum 標津サーモン科学館

「サケの町 しべつ」を象徴する標津サーモン科学館は
サーモンパークの中心に位置する水族館とサケの博物館を兼ねた施設です。

世界のサケ科魚類30種類以上を展示し、
産卵の瞬間やシロザケの稚魚約1万匹など
普段ではなかなか見ることのできないサケのライフサイクルを
間近で観察することができます。

さらに、おそらく世界でもここでしか体験できない『チョウザメの「指パク」』など
見て楽しむだけでなく触れて体験できるコーナーも充実。
巨大なイクラのオブジェが目印の展望台からは
知床連山や標津川、北方領土・国後島までが一望できます。

古くよりサケを中心とした漁業が盛んな標津町。
サケの町ならではの学びと体験を楽しめるスポットです。

The Shibetsu Salmon Science Museum, a symbol of “Shibetsu, the Town of Salmon,” is a facility that combines an aquarium and a salmon museum, located at the heart of Salmon Park.

It exhibits over 30 species of salmonid fish from around the world, allowing visitors to closely observe salmon life cycles that are rarely seen in everyday life, such as the moment of spawning and around 10,000 juvenile chum salmon.

Moreover, the museum features interactive corners where you can not only watch but also experience, including the world-unique “Sturgeon Finger Snap.” From the observation deck, marked by a giant salmon-roe sculpture, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Shiretoko mountain range, the Shibetsu River, and even the Northern Territories, including Kunashiri Island.

Shibetsu boasts one of the highest salmon catches in Hokkaido, making it a perfect spot to enjoy learning about and experiencing life in the town of salmon.
