Po River Nature and Histric Spot Park ポー川史跡自然公園

アイヌの時代より一万年。連綿と続いてきた人々の営みと、
道内でもひときわ深い標津の歴史を体験できる『ポー川史跡自然公園』。

園内には、世界最大規模の古代住居跡群を含む「伊茶仁カリカリウス遺跡」と、
天然記念物「標津湿原」という二つの国指定文化財が保存されています。

約630haにおよぶ雄大な環境保護区域には、
多様な地形や植生のほか、国内最大2,549か所の竪穴住居跡が点在。
古来よりこの地に人が暮らし続けた、歴史を垣間見ることができます。

開拓以前の姿をとどめるポー川でのカヌー体験や、
手つかずの自然と遺跡をガイドと共に体感できるガイドウォークも好評。
貴重な出土品を展示するビジターセンターや開拓の村とあわせ、
標津町の自然と文化に深く触れられる公園です。

For over ten thousand years—dating back to the era of the Ainu—people have lived and thrived on this land.
Pōgawa Historical Nature Park is a rare place where you can experience this long, unbroken history and the uniquely rich heritage of Shibetsu.

Within the park are two nationally designated cultural properties:
the Ichanin Karikariusu Archaeological Site, home to one of the world’s largest clusters of ancient dwellings, and the Shibetsu Wetlands, a protected natural monument.

Across roughly 630 hectares of vast conservation area, you'll find diverse landscapes, rich vegetation, and an extraordinary 2,549 pit dwellings—the largest number ever discovered in Japan. These remains offer a powerful glimpse into the lives of the people who have inhabited this land since ancient times.

Visitors can enjoy canoeing on the Pō River, which retains the appearance of the pre-settlement era, or join guided walks that explore the untouched nature and archaeological sites.
Together with the Visitor Center—featuring valuable excavated artifacts—and the Pioneer Village, the park provides a profound experience of both the nature and cultural history of Shibetsu.
